My research focuses on studying sex differences in the cardiovascular complications (particularly hypertension (HT)) in adult offspring born to hyperandrogenemic females (Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) rat model). PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder affecting 6% to 12% (as many as 5 million) of US women diagnosed during reproductive ages. PCOS women struggle to get pregnant and give birth to abnormal birth weight offspring, a fact that could increase their risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) chronically. Yet, the cardiovascular health of their offspring is an area that still needs a lot of research.
